Aiming to conduct the project Tech Food – „Solutions and interventions for technological transfer and innovations of food sector in Southeast Europe regions“, organized by the Institute of Agricultural Economics, on 28th October 2010, in Belgrade, in International Press Centre were held: focus group and technical working group of local stakeholders, and working group of consumers from meat-processing industry of Serbia. There were present 10 representatives of this industry, then the representatives of Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Mining Industry and Energetics of Republic of Serbia and Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, Cooperative Association and Association of Agricultural-food Producers.
In order to perceive the results of previously conducted survey in meat-processing sector, and in the project's interest, the Institute has decided to do three presentations on – Association and marketing in function of enterprise development in meat-processing industry of Serbia, Qualitative analytical instruments and Biomass – natural energy. In discussion which followed, active part took the representatives of above mentioned institutions, as well as the enterprises of ACB Imes and agricultural cooperative „Mrkšićevi salaši“.
During the discussion were emphasized issues in meat-processing industry in Serbia, i.e. that the producers were not enough informed about new trends and technologies at the market, that quality standards lack, that it was necessary to associate, as firms in the field of meat-processing industry, as well as connecting with primary agricultural producers. The representatives of enterprises had emphasized that, even some bigger processing industries in this field, still do not have licence to export their products to EU market and yet work on modernization of production drives, in order to fulfil all necessary conditions.
There was also analyzed a significance of biomass use for energy production in the future, but the problem of lacking permanent source of raw material for production of this kind of energy, too.
In future period, considering that the project lasts till spring 2012, and taking into consideration also needs of producers, the Institute plans to process all themes which it considers relevant for representatives of this industrial production: standards, food safety, geographic origin of the product, autochthonous products etc. Along with development of further project's basic goals, the institute's representatives hope that response to these educational working groups will be greater and businessmen will be more interested to visit them.
