Conclusions from the scientific meeting “Sustainable agriculture and rural development in terms of the Republic of Serbia strategic goals realization within the Danube region – sustainability and multifunctionality”

 

In the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (Terazije 23, Belgrade) was held a two days-lasting International Scientific Meeting in the period from 13th to 14th December 2018, organized by the Institute of Agricultural Economics – Belgrade. Results of the project “Sustainable agriculture and rural development in terms of the Republic of Serbia strategic goals realization within the Danube region”, financed by the Republic of Serbia Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, were presented in this year's meeting. The meeting was organized in cooperation with 30 institutions in Serbia and abroad (Romania, Poland, Russian Federation, Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Austria, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina). Many authors and guests from the country and abroad were welcome by Professor Jonel Subic, PhD., Director of the Institute of Agricultural Economics. After the IAE Director's welcome speech, Predrag Vukovic, PhD. was read a welcome letter of Mariana Golumbeanu, PhD. from the B.EN.A. organisation (Balkan Environmental Association) located in Thessaloniki (Greece). 

Prominent professors and members of the scientific institutions from the country and abroad have spoken to guests: Professor Nicolae Istudor, PhD. as a rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (Romania), Thomas Resl, PhD. as the representative of the Institute of Agricultural Economics from Vienna (Austria), Professor Snezana Bogosavljevic, PhD. as the representative of the Faculty of Agronomy in Cacak, as well a former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia, Professor Adam Wasilewski, PhD., as the representative of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – National Research Institute from Warsaw (Poland), Mr. Stefan Imre, as the representative of the Embassy of Romania in Serbia, Professor Anna Ivolga, PhD. (Stavropol State Agrarian University – Russia), Professor Blagica Sekovska, PhD., as the representative of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Skopje (Macedonia), Professor Dan Boboc, PhD.  and Professor Gabriel Popescu, PhD., as the representatives of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (Romania), Dori Pavloska Gjeorgjieska, PhD., as the representative of SWG organization (Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group in South Eastern Europe) from Skopje (Macedonia). Finally, M.D. PhD. Nemanja Berber from the Faculty of Economy –Subotica has greeted guests.

Presentation of papers by invitation within the plenary session was following the meeting introduction. This section was comprised ten papers, one written by a Serbian author and the rest were written by nine authors from Poland, Romania, Russia, Macedonia and Austria. Three official sections of the meeting were realized afterwards, and were comprising the presentation of 55 scientific papers. In the first section (Social sustainability and multifunctionality) were represented four papers, three papers from Serbia and one from Romania. The second section (Economic sustainability and multifunctionality) was comprising 29 papers, 8 of the authors from abroad and the rest 21 papers from Serbian authors. The third section (Ecological sustainability and multifunctionality) was comprising 22 papers, where 6 papers were from the foreign authors and 16 papers from the Serbian authors. It should be highlighted designing the fourth section that has gathered young researchers aged up to 35 (every co-author had to meet the age requirement). Of a total number of the arrived papers, 9 papers were presented in this section. These papers were covering new knowledge and research achievements in the field of social, economic and ecological sustainability and agricultural agriculture, up-to-date as in Serbia, as well as in foreign countries which the present authors came from. A round table named “New clean technologies and renewable energy resources in terms of the sustainable development of agriculture and rural development” was held on the second day of the meeting.
